While not competing in endurance sports for long, Dennis grew up playing sports and living an active lifestyle. It was during a family hike at Oak Mountain State Park that he discovered the sport of triathlon and knew he had to try it for himself. The XTERRA off road triathlon just happened to be going on while he and his family were enjoying the local trails. They found themselves on the run trail that the event was using for the run portion of the race.
Since learning about the sport and starting to compete for himself Dennis has grown leaps and bounds in four years. From starting out doing sprint distance races he has steadily increased his fitness and understanding of the sport to successfully complete his first 70.3 event, with another one scheduled for later this season.
His future plans for triathlon include completing a full Ironman. He also plans on taking a year to dive into the off road triathlon world as well and compete in off road triathlon races.
While sport is a huge part of Dennis’s life (his kids like to compete in a kid’s triathlon each year!), he is also dedicated to his family and has a full time job as a structural engineer. One of his favorite things to do is vacation with his wife and children. They enjoy taking trips to the beach and sailing.
