Growing up, David enjoyed playing basketball, tennis and baseball. He got into competing in duathlon and triathlon kind of by accident. During college and later, he became an avid runner and lifted weights exclusively. He started developing overuse injuries from running and a friend mentioned to him that maybe he should try some other lower impact sports like biking and swimming.
He took his friends advice to heart and started cycling. He noticed that his running was actually getting stronger with the cycling as cross-training. It was then his friend mentioned doing a triathlon. The thought intrigued David and so he signed up and completed his first sprint distance race. After that he was hooked. Now he is motivated by watching his times improve and seeing that he can place at races.
As a physician in Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep medicine, David balances a full life with his career, training and other endeavors. While not training or working, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, spending time at the beach and traveling.
Some of David’s future goals in sport are to complete a half iron distance race and consistently podium in duathlon events.
